Well, here I sit, updating my blog in the wee hours of Tuesday morning. Let's see.....what's happening today? Ironing? Dusting? Cooking? NO! Two more American by-elections in Wisconsin and Hawaii. Both slated by the pundits to go to Obama. Poor Hillary. A columnist in today's G&M says it's all over for Hillary but the fat lady singing, and that soprano is making her way to the stage:

It must be sad for poor Hillary as just six months ago she was going to be "annointed" as the Democratic candidate.
If only our Canadian political scene was as interesting!!

Birthday Poose
This has been my most incredible birthday.....ever! Started out with a visit to daughter Andrea and husband, Simon in Victoria last weekend (Simon's birthday on Feb 4th). We celebrated with dinner at Brio and cake back at Simon's and Angie's new rental digs........and we all helped to put on some new paint. Matt and Lisa were there with us....the whole clan!
Matt and Lisa came over on my birthday, Wed, Feb 6th, and brought lovely flowers and tarts.
Then husband Ray took me downtown to the Wedgewood Hotel for an overnight stay and champagne and steak on Thursday night. P-a-r-t-y! We connected with friends for breakfast.
Friday we connected with Matt for a play, "I Am Rachel Corrie" and dinner at The Havana at 1212 Commercial Drive.
Saturday Matt and Lisa arranged for a massage for me and when I arrived home the kids cooked a wonderful dinner. They also set up this blog for me.....aren't I lucky?
All in all it was a fabulous birthday with lots of good wishes, cards and flowers.
And now back to reality.

Exclusive Interview with Poose at the Wedgewood
I spoke with Poose live at the Wedgewood tonight with Ramondo shouting in the background. Always in good form, her voice was one of purity and reason in an otherwise cacophonous room.
In this exclusive interview, Poose, a Garth Turner prodigy, related what's foremost on her mind at the moment: a taste, if you will, of what's to come in this online onslaught, conservatively titled "The Daily Poose Post."
Asked to sound off on all things big and small, Poose set the phone line ablaze, rapping solid for five minutes, sometimes scathing, occasionally contemplative, but always on point. Sure, the name "Poose" sounds cute and cuddly but believe me, for every inch of softness, there's a mile of Machiavellian tough love. Snippets of tonight's machine gun editorial mow down:
On Politics:
1. Bob Rae - why didn't they elect that man head of the Liberal Party for God's sake!
2. Barrack Obama - yes we can! He's fabulous.
3. Steven Harper: "the brain"- but he's one manipulative bastard.
4. Stockwell Day: the man is an idiot. He thinks the world's 6,000 years old.
5. Ralph Goodale: we love that good little prairie boy.
On Action Needed:
1. the environment should be the number one priority on all political agendas
2. Canada needs to pull out of Afghanistan. It's a NATO mission, not a Canadian mission.
3. the 2010 Olympics: a bunch of claptrap. A 2 week party for a select few. What about the Downtown East Side? I guess their vote doesn't count so who cares, right?
4. Legalize drugs and stop the nonsense.
And until next time, keep your ears open and your Birks well oiled.
